Just One More Page
We are two childhood best friends, Morgan and Sam, who have a passion for reading that led to forming our own podcast. While Sam reads books with magic, weapons, and girls with supernatural powers, also known as fantasy, Morgan reads books related to romance, LGBTQ theme books, and on the odd day horror novels. We decided to start a podcast after realizing that we spent four to five hours on the phone just talking about the recent books we’ve read. This has allowed us to not only stay close as friends but for us to expand what we are reading.

First, happy PRIDE to our LGBTQ+ listeners! Today's episode discusses Sam's new accomplishments and Morgan's weekend trip. We also discussed this week's episode, Match Me If You Can by Swait Hegde.
About The Novel:
Confident fashionista Jia Deshpande spends her days writing cliché-ridden listicles for Mimosa, Mumbai’s top women’s magazine. When she can, Jia dishes about the messy truth of real love on her anonymous blog, attends her family’s weekly game nights, and ignores her true feelings for her childhood friend. If that wasn’t enough, Jia needs to successfully set up a coworker with her perfect match to get the green light for her new matchmaking column. Thankfully, organizing meet-cutes has never been difficult for her.Local pub owner and cocktail genius Jaiman Patil can’t help but be enamored with Jia and her meddling spirit. He’s always been an honorary part of her family, but even more so since his own moved to America. Life with the Deshpandes is chaotic and loud, but it’s also more loving than anything he experienced growing up, and he wouldn’t risk losing that for the world. It feels manageable—until his pub begins to struggle and his long-hidden feelings for Jia grow deeper. When Jia’s attempts at office matchmaking go haywire, risking new friendships and her relationship with Jaiman, she must reevaluate her own thoughts on love. For the first time, Jia Deshpande realizes that love may be a lot more complicated than she thought. Luckily, happily-ever-afters are never in short supply in Mumbai.

About The Novel:
Amanda Pruitt needs redemption. She is the one, after all, who turned her sister in for murder and anonymously broadcasted her trial to millions on TikTok. And she was wrong. Her sister is innocent, making Amanda the villain—not the hero—all along. So when her childhood best friend's mom is arrested for murdering an eccentric billionaire and refuses to give a statement, Amanda decides to help solve the crime. This could be her second chance. If she can use her TikTok to get the public on her friend's side, the police will have to reopen the investigation. The plan? Stay the summer with her aunt who is the concierge at the Summit, a historic (read: haunted) hotel in the mountains that also happens to be the scene of the crime. Investigate the billionaire's murder. Win back her estranged bestie Vince. Not the plan? See a ghost. Fall for Vince. Black out and lose 15 minutes of her life. Wake up to find the dead body of a frenemy.Amanda and Vince must work together to find the killer, or Amanda risks going down for a murder she isn't quite sure she didn't commit. Set in a possibly haunted hotel and including TikTok interstitials, this is the perfect follow up to Live Your Best Lie.

Ruthless men intent on reclaiming the diary are after Sam, setting her and her best friend, along with her childhood crush, on a high-stakes adventure that lands them in the green hills outside Dublin, Ireland. Here they discover an ancient order with a dark purpose - to perform an occult ritual that will raise the Specter Queen, the Celtic goddess of vengeance and death, to bring about a war unlike any the world has ever seen. To stop them, Sam must solve a deviously complex cipher - one that will lead her on a treasure hunt to discover the ancient relic at the heart of the ritual: a bowl carved from the tree of life. EP121 The Audacity Of This Man [Funny Story by Emily Henry]
Sunday Apr 28, 2024
Sunday Apr 28, 2024
Welcome to today's episode where Sam and Morgan discuss our third novel from Emily Henry which is called Funny Story.
About This Novel:
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra.Which is how Daphne begins her new story: Stranded in beautiful Waning Bay, Michigan, without friends or family but with a dream job as a children’s librarian (that barely pays the bills), and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak.Scruffy and chaotic—with a penchant for taking solace in the sounds of heart break love ballads—Miles is exactly the opposite of practical, buttoned up Daphne, whose coworkers know so little about her they have a running bet that she’s either FBI or in witness protection. The roommates mainly avoid one another, until one day, while drowning their sorrows, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan. If said plan also involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their summer adventures together, well, who could blame them? But it’s all just for show, of course, because there’s no way Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex…right?

EP119 We Want More Murder! [Ghost Station by S.A Barnes]
Sunday Apr 14, 2024
Sunday Apr 14, 2024
Sit back and enjoy as Morgan and Sam talk about Ghost Station by S.A Barnes. Of course we had to talk about the eclipse and whether or not we went blind or not. We do want to mention that our microphones weren't working the best in this episode. So we do apologize for that.About The Novel:Space exploration can be lonely and isolating.Psychologist Dr. Ophelia Bray has dedicated her life to the study and prevention of ERS—a space-based condition most famous for a case that resulted in the brutal murders of twenty-nine people. When she's assigned to a small exploration crew, she's eager to make a difference. But as they begin to establish residency on an abandoned planet, it becomes clear that crew is hiding something. While Ophelia focuses on her new role, her crewmates are far more interested in investigating the eerie, ancient planet and unraveling the mystery behind the previous colonizer's hasty departure than opening up to her. That is, until their pilot is discovered gruesomely murdered. Is this Ophelia’s worst nightmare starting—a wave of violence and mental deterioration from ERS? Or is it something more sinister?Terrified that history will repeat itself, Ophelia and the crew must work together to figure out what’s happening. But trust is hard to come by… and the crew isn’t the only one keeping secrets.

Trigger warning: Death, Talks of suicide, Anxiety
Summary:
The Shadowhunter Chronicles meets the Chinese underworld, for fans of Legendborn, and anime like Jujutsu Kaisen and Noragami.
Hell. Its mythos exists in every culture: mysterious death gods, solemn grim reapers, a damsel who falls in love with a clever devil or two, vengeful demons—and those who oppose them.
The city is an unruly splotch. Cold, ambitious, hungry. Its netherworld is ruled by the Ten Kings of Hell. Bound by the rules of life and death, each King tends to his realm like a skilled bonsai master, and it is said that all ten are needed to maintain balance. When a god of death goes missing, an ancient supernatural virus known as the Blight rears its head, mutating the souls of the dead into Revenants, dark vampiric creatures who thirst for the spirit energy of mortals.
A girl, empty, haunted by her past.
A boy, broken, looking for magic.
A reaper, alone, searching for his King.
A wish made; a promise broken.
As darkness takes over, three paths intersect in the shadows. And three lives bound by the red threads of fate must rise against destiny before the barrier between worlds crumbles and all hell breaks loose. Literally.
